There are 8 directions of scientific development in the game, for all of which you need scientists. You can never win the game if you don’t advance your science. Even if you manage to conquer your immediate neighbors, a stronger and more developed enemy will appear sooner or later and bring you to ashes.
- scientific level: the most important scientific direction allowing to increase scientific output. The further this direction is advanced, the faster new discoveries are made in all directions.
- demographic level: scientific direction defining how much people can live on a given territory. There are two ways to increase your population: capture territory from the neighboring countries or develop this direction.
- urbanitation level: scientific direction defining the percentage of population growth. The further this direction is developed, the larger is the percentage by which the population of your country is increased. This, for instance, compensates for casualties on the battlefield.
- agrarian level: scientific direction determining how much grain one citizen can sow. The further this direction is advanced, the more grain can your citizens sow and harvest. Advancing this direction is one of the ways to increase your income.
- fish production level: scientific direction determining how much fish one peasant can catch. The further this direction is advanced, the more fish your citizens can catch. Advancing this direction is one of the ways to increase your income.
- financial level: defines, how much money you will earn by selling one unit of grain or fish. The more this direction is advanced, the more expensive grain and fish is. This is, too, one of the ways to increase your income.
- military level: scientific direction, defining how strong and healthy your soldiers are. The further this direction is developed, the better your soldiers attack and defend. Without developing this direction your soldiers will be too weak to fight.
- navy level: scientific direction, defining how strong your ships are. The further this direction is developed, the better your ships attack and defend.
